Miles Ocampo is off to a brighter new year as she pours out her heart and sentiments over her heartbreaking split with ex-boyfriend and fellow actor Elijah Canlas.
In a tell-all interview with Karen Davila, the 26-year-old actress talked about having to deal with various hardships in 2023 that ultimately tested her faith and her strength. Among those was her relationship problems.
Miles and Elijah dated for more than two years, and Miles admittedly said that she’s not putting all the blame on her ex for whatever happened in their relationship. She highly acknowledged the fact they both had shortcomings back when they were still together.
“May mga bagay na nangyari, of course sa isang relationship naman hindi lang naman isang tao—parang you have to make it work, kayong dalawa. So siyempre merong mga pagkukulang yung isa’t isa,” Miles told Karen.
“Of course, Ms. Karen,” she responded when asked about forgiving Elijah. “Forgiveness naman ang ano, pinakaimportante sa lahat, for myself din, and since I still have love for that person,” she noted. “‘Di ba parang lahat naman ng tao nagkakamali, parang dapat lang maging accountable ‘yung mga tao sa mga nagawa nila.”
Yup, just like Elijah’s earlier statement saying “I’m gonna have love for her,” Miles does not shy away from admitting that there’s still a bit of affection left for her former lover. ICYDK, Elijah was Miles’ first boyfriend. “True love… and first everything!” she said in the interview.
She added that their breakup does not change the fact that they shared genuinely happy moments together. “May pinagsamahan kami, matagal din kami, and… kapag ganon na marami kayong pinagdaanan together, marami kayong happy memories din together, ’di ba, parang I have so much love and respect for that person,” said Miles.
On November 23, 2023, Elijah’s breakup confirmation made headlines after weeks of speculations from netizens. Now, Miles is at peace that they left everything in the past year. She reveals that they are staying as good friends.
“I’m happy na naiwan lahat ng issues na ‘yon sa 2023 and then we started this year na okay kami, nag-uusap and all. Hindi rin naman biro yung mga pinagdaanan namin. May mga bagay na kaming dalawa lang ang makakaalam at makakasagot sa isa’t isa. So might be friends for now,” Miles expressed.
With everything that has happened, Miles looks forward to focusing on herself and her career for the time being. Most especially when there are a lot of exciting opportunities for her this year. “Date ng iba? ‘Wag na muna. Napakadaming mangyayari ngayon. May mga offers, mga work, parang sabi ni Lord, anak eto muna,” she stated.
And when asked if there’s a possibility to rekindle her romance with her one true love, Elijah, well, it seems that Miles is not closing any doors for now. “Tignan natin… Ang universe ang magsabi,” she simply answered.
