Miley Cyrus showed up to the 2024 Grammy Awards red carpet looking stronger than ever in a sheer, gold-netted dress that put her toned arms, abs, and legs on full display. Not only was her outfit choice a total slay, but she also nailed her performance of “Flowers”—for which she won Record of the Year!
Miley celebrated the career milestone by sweetly shouting, “I just won my first Grammy!” during her performance of the hit song, which was an epically unexpected moment.
And if Sunday night’s jaw-dropping look and show-stopping performance prove anything, it’s that the “Used To Be Young” singer is still a pro at shaking things up. She’s cool stepping outside of her comfort zone in everything, including her workout routine, and judging by her Instagram feed (and those toned arms and abs), staying active is a major part of her life.
Miley’s go-to form of exercise is an athletic form of yoga called Ashtanga. Way back in 2016, Miley gave Jimmy Fallon an Ashtanga lesson during her interview on The Tonight Show. She told the talk show host that she’s been practicing for several years and explained that mastering Ashtanga poses takes a lot of training. Since then, Miley’s continued to put in the work—and show off her skills, since she regularly shows photos of herself pulling off advanced asanas (yoga speak for poses) on her Instagram feed.
All that flexibility training comes in handy, however, as another one of Miley’s favorite ways to work out happens to be Pilates, known for its ability to majorly strengthen and sculpt your abs. And when prepping for a performance, she amps up her cardio endurance with some quality time on the treadmill.
How does Miley Cyrus stay so fit?

In February 2021, Miley shared the coolest video on Instagram of herself running on a treadmill while belting out “Rebel Girl” by Bikini Kill. Miley’s jacked abs were on full display as she sang perfectly on key and ran along.
Miley’s been doing yoga for years.
She’s got a serious Ashtanga practice, which is an athletic style of yoga aimed at improving your health both mentally and physically. In December 2020, she showed off an Ashtanga yoga sequence on her Instagram Stories, writing “I surrender back on the floor feeling it’s [sic] grounding nature/properties….if you can take even 10 seconds to feel the weight of gravity and think of someone or something you are thankful for! Gratitude is the cure for stress.”
But she’s always up for a new (fitness) challenge.
Miley once shared a video of herself doing Pilates on a Cadillac reformer. Even though the singer wrote that she was “trying something new,” she already looks like a Pilates pro. Thanks to her strong core (hello, six pack!) Miley was able to pull off a seriously advanced move: a full teaser, which involves balancing on your tailbone with your arms and legs extended to straight in a “V” shape. Of the intense workout, Miley wrote: “Grateful/Thankful AF… Keep it up uni! I love GROWING/STRENGTHENING. Nothing worth it is easy.”
She even works out in her music videos.

Miley Cyrus – Flowers (Official Video)
Miley’s “Flowers” music video is a tribute to being a total boss on your own, and it includes an impressive workout. In the video, Miley can be seen cycling through bodyweight moves, doing battle ropes, and working her way through resistance band exercises, all while looking incredibly strong.
Like yoga, she’s gotten *really* into Pilates.

Miley started doing Pilates workouts in 2013, and was doing them daily at one point, according to Harper’s Bazaar Australia. There was even word she installed a Pilates studio in her home, so she could conveniently get in a good core workout without leaving the house.
She’s been known to do squats while she sings.

Back in September 2019, Miley was hospitalized for tonsillitis and found out there was an issue with her vocal cords, which ultimately required surgery. Despite going through some scary health issues, Miley kept moving, even working on a few wall sits to help get her vocal rehab going—she said the quad-quaking squat holds kept her mind off her vocal chords. Genius! She even recently posted this video of herself doing vocal exercises (and butt exercises) as proof she’s kept up with the practice.
Even on vacations, Miley finds ways to work up a sweat.

For Miley, it looks like R&R stands for rest and active recovery. For example, when she took a trip to Arizona, she spent some time kayaking with her dog and trekked through the state’s famous canyons. Fun!
Often, this includes taking her exercise routine to new heights.

In her hit single, “The Climb,” Miley famously sings about her love of an uphill challenge. Turns out, she wasn’t just talking in metaphors. She’s known to go hiking through the trails near her home in Los Angeles, but also treks when she’s away traveling—both for the endorphins and the epic views.
She finds fun ways to move her body.

While Miley is serious about working out, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to let loose and just enjoy moving her bod without making a big deal about it. Case in point? This cute choreographed dance routine with her mom and sis she shared on Instagram.
That includes staying active in her everyday life.

Miley’s lifestyle is anything but sedentary. She owns two mini horses, seven dogs, three cats and one pig, according to Vanity Fair. No doubt tending to all those animals keeps her physically active in between scheduled workouts too.
