Morissette Amon broke her silence to address allegations thrown at her after she recently came under fire for her supposed “lackluster performance” and “attitude problem” issues.
On her Instagram story, the “Asia’s Phoenix” remarked on the unfairness of the people to jump into conclusions without hearing all sides of the story and revealed she never met the person who posted the rumors about her.
“I wasn’t gonna speak up about these nasty rumors circulating about me, but I just find it unfair that people assume so quickly hearing just one side of the story. I really don’t understand where all this hate is coming from,” Amon began.
“I never met the man who posted said rumors, who supposedly directed the event that I was asked to perform for, so I’m really not getting why he went out of his way to put out so much hate towards me and my craft,” added the singer.
Amon remarked that she was under the weather when the performance took place and was on medications. Regardless of her state, she assured the public that she tried to give her best performance.
“I was actually bedridden the day before with a fever and no voice, that I was so close to cancelling said event. But, the show must go on, and I went as agreed… There came a time when I became so dependent on taking steroids for my voice, to which I was only supposed to take for emergencies… But rest assured I gave my all,” she explained.
The “Akin Ka Na Lang” singer underscored that the production staff even commended her for her effort despite not being in the best shape that day. She then affirmed that her “conscience is clear” and reminded everyone to look after themselves.

“I really didn’t think much of this issue cuz my conscience is clear. I have pretty high standards for myself especially when it comes to my craft, but I knew then that there wasn’t really much I could do because I am in fact still human and get sick and have down days too. So let this be a lesson to all of us to really take care of ourselves, and stay away from unnecessary negativity.” she concluded.
Amon’s statement came after event director Vic Sevilla claimed in a now-deleted Facebook post that a certain “phoenix” gave a lackluster performance, making her appearance and booking for an event a “waste of time and money.”
Sevilla claimed that in one of the corporate events that he directed recently, they had guested a singer to perform four songs in the finale number. He said the singer is known for belting extremely difficult songs and her ability to “whistle” a la Mariah Carey.
“Naturally, we were expecting no less than a fiery performance from her. Sadly, her much-vaunted vocal power appeared to be missing that night. She seemed zapped of energy, acted uninterested, and sounded distant and cold. It was as if all enthusiasm escaped her the moment she stepped on stage,” he said.
“It was just disappointing given that performers of her stature and popularity demand a hefty price to appear in corporate events. At the very least, she could have faked enthusiasm to cheer the audience up and not act as if she wanted to get off the stage in haste. She was, at that moment, a complete waste of time and money,” he further said.
