3.  Purple Cardamom:

During fruit season, the sweet-smelling fruits attract rodents like mice and squirrels, which are favorite meals for snakes. These plants grow near streams or forests, and during fruit-bearing season, snakes come to hunt for rodents. To prevent snakes from entering your home, avoid planting this around your yard.

4.  Pineapple:

Pineapples have a sweet fragrance that attracts snakes. For safety reasons, people should plant pineapples far from their homes, preferably in the garden or distant parts of the yard.

Additionally, plants that grow into large canopies, such as bougainvillea or morning glories, can attract green vipers, so it's best not to plant these around your home.

Some flowers like jasmine, honeysuckle, or bindweed also attract snakes because of their strong fragrance. However, using pesticides or chemical fertilizers can reduce this attraction.

Plants to Grow to Keep Snakes Away:

To keep snakes out of your home, consider planting certain types of plants that are known to repel them. Here are some effective options:

1.  Nén (Shallot-like plant):

This plant has a pungent smell that repels snakes. Plant Nén around the garden or fence to keep snakes away.

2.  Garlic Lily:

This climbing plant with purple flowers emits a spicy scent that snakes dislike. Plant garlic lilies by gates or along fences to help prevent snakes from entering your property.

3.  Arrowroot:

The sap from arrowroot plants scares snakes and keeps them at bay. Planting arrowroot in your yard can effectively repel snakes.

4.  Lemongrass:

Crushing or breaking lemongrass releases essential oils that are highly effective in driving snakes away. However, leaving clumps of lemongrass may provide shelter for snakes. Plant lemongrass throughout the garden for optimal results.

5.  Herbs with Strong Scents:

Mint, rosemary, and other plants with strong fragrances can also help keep snakes away. Growing these herbs around your home is an easy way to create a natural barrier.

Other Tips to Keep Snakes Away:

  • Own a Dog or Cat: Having a dog or cat not only helps keep snakes away but also reduces the number of rodents that could attract snakes in the first place.

By removing these snake-attracting plants and implementing other measures, you can create a safer and more secure environment for you and your family.
