When ground covers become overgrown, it can be difficult to spot animals moving beneath them.

Decorative grasses are popular for landscaping, but their thick blades and dense growth can provide shelter for snakes. Large clumps may also attract rodents seeking cover, which can in turn attract predators.
Regular trimming helps reduce the risk.
