Daily skincare also makes a difference. Moisturizing regularly helps maintain the skin barrier, while avoiding smoking and eating a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables supports healthy skin as you age.
It's also worth remembering that many harmless conditions can cause spots or discoloration on the hands, including freckles, seborrheic keratoses, bruising from fragile blood vessels, and post-inflammatory pigmentation. A visual examination alone is not enough to diagnose the cause accurately.
Rather than assuming every spot indicates a serious illness—or dismissing every change as normal aging—the safest approach is to monitor your skin regularly. If a spot changes rapidly, becomes painful, bleeds, or simply looks different from your other marks, seek medical advice.
