The elderly woman smiled politely.
"It's for something important," she replied.
Then she paid and walked away.

6Several days later, curiosity got the better of Ovidiu.
After Lidia left the shop, he decided to discreetly follow her.
He wasn't trying to invade her privacy.
He simply wanted to understand why someone who had once purchased only a few pounds of meat suddenly needed hundreds of kilograms every week.
Lidia traveled farther than he expected.
She walked beyond the town center, beyond residential neighborhoods, and eventually toward a wooded area near the outskirts of town.
From a distance, Ovidiu watched as she stopped in a clearing.
What happened next left him stunned.
As soon as she arrived, dozens of animals emerged from the surrounding trees.
Then dozens more.
And more after that.
The clearing filled with hungry dogs.
Stray dogs.
Some were old.
