I Started Eating 3 Eggs Daily and I’ve Noticed One Surprising Big Change
For years, eggs were misunderstood and even feared due to their cholesterol content. However, in recent years, science has started to redeem the humble egg as one of the most nutritious and affordable superfoods available. I always liked eggs but never really made them a regular part of my daily diet—until a few months ago. I decided to challenge myself: eat three eggs every day and observe any changes in my body and overall health. What I discovered surprised me more than I expected.
The biggest and most surprising change I noticed was a significant increase in my energy levels. Before starting this routine, I would often feel tired around mid-morning or right after lunch. I thought this was just normal fatigue from a busy schedule, but after about a week of eating three eggs daily—usually for breakfast—I realized I wasn’t crashing anymore. I felt more focused, energetic, and alert throughout the day.
So, what made the difference?
Eggs are rich in high-quality protein, healthy fats, and essential nutrients like B vitamins (especially B12), iron, and choline. These nutrients play a critical role in energy production at the cellular level. Choline, in particular, supports brain function and helps with neurotransmitter activity, which might explain why I felt mentally sharper and more awake. Unlike sugary breakfast foods that cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, eggs provided a steady source of energy.
Aside from energy, I also noticed that my hunger and cravings decreased. I used to snack frequently between meals, especially on carbs and sweets. But once I started eating eggs consistently, I felt fuller for longer. This is likely due to their protein and fat content, which promote satiety. Because of this, I unintentionally started eating less junk food and even lost a few pounds without trying.
There were other small but noticeable changes, too. My skin looked clearer, and my nails felt stronger. Eggs are a great source of biotin, a B vitamin that supports skin, hair, and nail health. While results may vary, I personally saw improvement in these areas within the first month.
Now, it’s important to address the old concern about cholesterol. One egg contains about 186 mg of cholesterol, mostly in the yolk. However, recent studies have shown that dietary cholesterol does not significantly impact blood cholesterol levels for most people. In fact, eggs can increase HDL (the "good" cholesterol) and may even improve the LDL/HDL ratio, which is a more important marker for heart health.
Of course, balance is key. While eating three eggs a day worked well for me, it may not suit everyone, especially those with specific medical conditions. It's always wise to consult a doctor or nutritionist before making any major dietary changes. Also, the way eggs are prepared matters—a boiled or poached egg is a healthier option than one fried in butter or oil.
In conclusion, starting a routine of eating three eggs daily brought me a surprising and welcome boost in energy, reduced my cravings, and supported my overall health. Eggs are no longer just a breakfast food to me—they’ve become a foundation of my daily nutrition. Simple, natural, and incredibly nourishing, eggs proved that sometimes, the biggest health improvements come from the smallest changes.
