Reduced Deep Sleep and REM Sleep
Sleep is not a single state. It consists of several stages, including deep sleep and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep.
Deep sleep helps the body repair tissues, strengthen the immune system, and restore energy. REM sleep plays a critical role in learning, memory processing, creativity, and emotional health.
When sleep is repeatedly interrupted, the body may spend less time in these important stages.
This can result in:
- Morning fatigue
- Difficulty concentrating
- Memory problems
- Irritability
- Reduced productivity
- Lower physical performance
Many people who believe they slept for seven or eight hours may still wake up exhausted because the quality of sleep was compromised.
