A Creature Worth Understanding
While the sight of a house centipede can still be unsettling, understanding its role in the household ecosystem may change the way people view it. Rather than being an enemy, it is often an ally working behind the scenes to keep more troublesome pests under control.
That does not mean everyone must welcome centipedes into their homes. However, before reaching for the nearest object to squash one, it may be worth considering the benefits it provides. The strange bug sprinting across your wall could actually be protecting your home from far worse invaders.
In the end, the house centipede's appearance may be frightening, but its behavior tells a very different story. Sometimes the creepiest creatures are also the most helpful.
