Mixing detergent with sugar: Solves many household problems
Detergent and sugar are two common household items that, when combined, create a mixture with many uses.
Cockroach Extermination
Using a mixture of detergent and sugar to kill cockroaches is a simple, safe, and highly effective method. Just place a cup of freshly mixed detergent and sugar in corners or areas where cockroaches frequently roam.
The sweetness of the sugar attracts the cockroaches. Since cockroaches breathe through their abdominal pores, when they crawl to drink the mixture, the detergent in the mixture clogs these pores, suffocating them and causing their death.
Another method is to prepare a bowl of rice, sprinkle it with a bit of sugar and detergent, and place it in areas where cockroaches are common. Once they enter the bowl and consume the mixture, they will be eliminated immediately.
Mosquito and Small Insect Elimination
Aside from killing cockroaches, the mixture of sugar and detergent can also eliminate mosquitoes and other small insects like ants and centipedes. Simply mix sugar, detergent, and water, then pour the mixture into a cup. Cover the cup with paper or plastic, leaving only a small hole.
The sugar attracts mosquitoes and other insects into the cup. Upon consuming the mixture, the detergent and the sealed mouth of the cup trap them, causing them to suffocate and die. Additionally, you can dilute one tablespoon of detergent in four liters of water and spray it around the house twice a week. Over time, insects will gradually disappear.
Removing Yellow Stains from Towels
For towels or clothes with yellow stains, you can use a detergent and sugar mixture as a substitute for bleach. Soak the stained items in the mixture for 1–2 hours, then wash them as usual. The yellow stains will completely disappear.
Eliminating Drain Odors
Drain odors can be unpleasant and affect your living space and quality of life. After washing towels or dealing with insects, you can pour the mixture down the drain to deodorize it and prevent insects from emerging from the sewer.
Cleaning Kitchen Towels and Dishcloths
Over time, dishcloths may accumulate grease, dirt, or yellow stains. You can use a detergent and sugar solution to clean them effectively.
First, soak the cloth in the solution for 5 minutes (if the stain is fresh, you can wash it immediately). The grease and dirt will loosen, making it easier to clean. Then, lightly scrub and rinse with clean water to restore the cloth’s cleanliness.
