No housekeeper had ever lasted long with the billionaire’s new wife

No housekeeper had ever lasted long with the billionaire’s new wife

That night, when everyone had gone to bed, Ashley slipped quietly through the silent halls of the Sterling mansion. The marble floors reflected the dim glow of the chandeliers, and her footsteps sounded louder than she would have liked. Her heart raced, but she moved with purpose.

She had waited weeks for this moment.

In her pocket, she carried a small flash drive — one she planned to use to copy files from the office computer upstairs. She wasn’t there to steal money or jewelry. What she wanted was proof. Proof that her father’s company had been ruined not by bad luck, but by Richard Sterling himself.

When her father had lost everything, he’d said through tears that someone “up high” had set him up. Months later, he was gone — and Ashley swore she’d find out who was behind it.

She pushed open the office door. The faint scent of cigar smoke lingered in the air. Papers were stacked neatly on the desk, and the computer’s screen saver glowed softly. She sat down, her hands trembling as she connected the flash drive.

But before she could start searching, a voice came from the shadows. “Looking for something, Miss Daniels?”

Her blood ran cold. Olivia stood by the doorway, wearing a silk robe and holding a glass of wine, a smirk playing on her lips.

“I knew you were different,” Olivia said, stepping closer. “Not like the others. You don’t scare easy. Tell me, what is it you’re really after?”

Ashley froze, struggling to find words. “I—I was just—”

“Save it,” Olivia interrupted. “You’re digging into things you shouldn’t. But maybe…” She paused, her tone shifting. “Maybe we can help each other.”

Ashley blinked in confusion. “What do you mean?”

Olivia took a sip of wine, watching her carefully. “You think my husband is the man he pretends to be? He’s not. He’s hiding more than you can imagine. And believe me, I’ve been dying for someone brave enough to help me prove it.”

Ashley’s fear slowly turned to curiosity. “You… you want to expose him too?”

Olivia smiled coldly. “Let’s just say I’m not as blind as he thinks I am.”

The two women stood in silence for a moment, the weight of what was unsaid hanging between them.

Ashley finally spoke. “If we do this, we do it my way. I want the truth — not revenge.”

Olivia nodded. “Deal. But understand this — once we start, there’s no going back.”

Over the next few weeks, the two formed an uneasy alliance. They met late at night, piecing together documents, recordings, and financial statements. What they found stunned them both — secret accounts, false reports, and transactions that linked Richard to the very company Ashley’s father had lost.

The truth hit her harder than any slap Olivia could ever give: Richard Sterling had indeed destroyed her family’s business to gain control of its assets.

When she showed Olivia the final proof, the woman’s expression hardened. “Then it’s time everyone else knows,” she said.

The following morning, headlines exploded across the city. “Billionaire Richard Sterling Under Investigation for Corporate Fraud.”

Reporters camped outside the gates, and the empire Richard had built began to crumble.

In the chaos that followed, Olivia disappeared quietly from the mansion, taking nothing but a suitcase. Ashley stayed only long enough to hand Maria her resignation.

“Where will you go now?” Maria asked softly.

Ashley smiled faintly. “Home. To rebuild what he destroyed.”

As she stepped out into the morning light, the cool air filled her lungs. For the first time in years, she felt free.

Sometimes, justice doesn’t come from power or wealth. Sometimes, it comes from the courage of someone the world never thought could make a difference.
