Home is probably the most familiar place for everyone because it is the place to go home, so everyone is familiar with every corner and no one knows more about a house than its owner. However, for Alexandra Poulos in Lansdowne County, Delaware County, Pennsylvania (USA), the house is a place that hides a surprising secret that she could never have imagined.
Alexandra has lived in her house since 1974 when her parents bought it. The strange thing is that she feels a deep connection to the house associated with her childhood. Alexandra once confided to a reporter in June 2018 that, when she was a child, she always had strange dreams about having other rooms in her house. Alexandra said: "I searched online about the meaning of dreams and people always thought I had a crazy imagination."
But Alexandra's hunch was not wrong!
“It’s a strange, bizarre story,” Alexandra told reporters. At the time of the interview, she was 43 years old and the sole owner of the house. She also told how she lost both her mother and brother in the same year. When Alexandra’s father became frail, he wrote a will leaving the house to his daughter.
Alexandra decided to rent it to another family. In 2018, the tenant called Alexandra to check on a broken oil pipe used for the heating. Alexandra hired workers to repair the damage, and like a responsible landlord, she fixed the problem.

But still not feeling secure, she asked the workers to dig deeper into the floor. As a result, the floor revealed a hole leading deep down, which surprised everyone. She could not believe that the house she had lived in for decades had a secret room underneath.
After a few days of continuing the work, they discovered a secret room and tunnel underneath. This was part of the subway. Moreover, this was not a normal subway track, but there was information that it was a path to free slaves.

Alexandra further explained that it was no coincidence that her house was located on Garrett Road. This was named after Thomas Garrett, who helped Harriet Tubman rescue 2,700 slaves in the area. Underneath Alexandra's house can be considered an important witness to American history.
