A few hours later, everything changed.
The Morning After the Wedding
Sarah woke at around 7:30 the following morning.
At first, nothing seemed unusual.
The room was quiet.
Morning light was beginning to fill the suite.
Rashid was lying beside her.
Then Sarah noticed something.
His hand felt cold.
She called his name.
There was no response.
She touched his shoulder and shook him gently.
"Rashid?"
Nothing.
She tried again, more urgently.
Still nothing.
Within seconds, confusion became fear.
Sarah sat upright and looked closely at her husband.
Somewhere inside her, before anyone said a word, she understood that something was terribly wrong.
She screamed for help.
Hotel staff rushed to the room and emergency services were called.
Paramedics arrived and attempted to revive Rashid.
Sarah watched as the peaceful honeymoon suite became an emergency scene.
Only hours earlier, they had entered that room as newlyweds.
Now strangers were desperately trying to save her husband's life.
They couldn't.
Rashid had died during the night.
The reported cause was a massive heart attack.
He was forty-five years old.
There had been no obvious warning that Sarah recognized beforehand. No dramatic collapse during the wedding. No final conversation in which either of them understood what was about to happen.
One moment they were planning a lifetime together.
The next morning, that future was gone.
Sarah remained in the room, overwhelmed by shock.
The wedding dress that had represented the happiest day of her life only hours before now became associated with the worst morning she could imagine.
She held Rashid's hand.
Part of her kept expecting someone to tell her that a mistake had been made.
That he would wake up.
That the nightmare would end.
It didn't.
