The Hidden Washing Machine Switch: Press It Once to Flush Out Dirt

Washing machines are an essential part of modern life, but not everyone knows about a small hidden switch that makes cleaning the machine much easier. Discover how to use this secret feature to keep your washing machine fresh and efficient!

A Hidden Switch for Easy Washing Machine Cleaning

Washing machines constantly come into contact with dirt and water, leading to residue buildup inside the drum over time. Since this dirt isn’t always visible from the outside, many people disassemble their machines for deep cleaning.

However, taking apart a washing machine without understanding its structure and functionality can be difficult. Instead, you can use a small hidden switch designed to drain out dirty water, making the cleaning process much simpler.

This switch is usually located at the lower right or left corner of the machine, depending on the model. You'll find a small cover on the surface—simply open it to let the remaining dirty water drain out.

Important Notes Before Draining the Water

Before draining the water from your washing machine, keep the following precautions in mind:

  • Turn off all electrical connections. Ensure that power cords and plugs are disconnected to prevent electric shock, especially if water spills out.
  • Use a drainage outlet if available. If there’s a nearby drainage pipe, use it; otherwise, prepare a bucket or container to collect the water and dispose of it properly.
  • Wait if your machine uses hot water. If your washing machine uses hot water for the final rinse, allow it to cool completely before draining to avoid burns.

Simple Steps to Clean Your Washing Machine Drum

  1. Clean the lint filter

    • Over time, the lint filter accumulates debris, affecting wash quality. Remove the filter, wash off any buildup with clean water, and reinstall it.
  2. Deep-clean the washing drum

    • Unplug the machine and mix baking soda with warm water. Pour the solution into the drum and let it sit for 30 minutes to an hour.
    • Run a normal wash cycle without clothes.
    • Dip a soft cloth into the baking soda solution and wipe down the interior of the drum.
    • Select the rinse cycle to remove any remaining residue.

By using the hidden switch and following these cleaning steps, you can keep your washing machine in top condition, ensuring cleaner clothes and a longer-lasting appliance!
