How to choose the best oranges: tips for picking juicy and sweet ones
When it comes to buying oranges, a little observation can help you pick out the juiciest and most flavorful ones. The orange season is here, and in supermarkets and fruit stores, piles of oranges are on display. Picking the best ones isn’t just about luck, especially considering the price of oranges. One of my neighbors owns a fruit shop, and my family buys most of our fruits from his store. After building a good relationship with him, he shared with me some useful tips on selecting various types of fruits.
Of course, I’ve also combined my years of experience in choosing oranges, and below I will share some tips on how to select good oranges. You can try them next time you buy oranges, and I hope you’ll pick fruits with thin skins, lots of juice, and a sweet taste.
Look at the color
When you look at a pile of oranges, the first thing that catches your eye is their bright yellow color. However, if you look closely, you’ll notice that the oranges have different shades. The darker the color, the more sunlight the orange received during its growth, and the more sugar it has stored inside, making it naturally sweet and juicy. On the other hand, lighter-colored oranges may be the result of poor growth or extended storage time. Therefore, when selecting oranges, you should choose those that are darker in color for the best quality.
