Many people are familiar with the concept of "rein.carnation." While its truth remains uncertain, this idea has been passed down through generations.

The belief that a child reincarnates into your family is not purely coincidental. It is said that children become your offspring and accept you as their parents due to predestined karma. Why does a child choose to reincarnate into your family and not another?

If you and the child do not share a connection, even if you cross paths, you will pass each other as strangers.

The Concept of Reincarnation in Buddhism

Buddha spoke of four types of karmic relationships between parents and their children. Different karmic ties result in different parent-child living situations.

The First Type of Karma: Repaying Kindness

In a previous life, if you were kind to your child and there was a karmic connection, then in this life, the child will come to repay the kindness you showed them. These children are easy to raise, obedient, intelligent, and very filial, causing no worries for their parents.

The Second Type of Karma: Repaying Grudges

In a previous life, you and your child were enemies, unable to face each other even in death. In this life, they will reincarnate into your family to seek revenge or even to settle old scores. These children may be difficult, disobedient, and as they grow older, they may bring trouble and cause financial ruin.

The Third Type: Collecting Debts

In a previous life, you owed money to your child and did not fully repay them. In this life, they will come to collect the debt. Once they have collected enough, they will leave. The more you owed, the more they will demand.

For example, if you owed a small debt, these children might leave you when they are 3 or 4 years old due to illness or accidents. If you owed a larger debt, they may stay until they are 18 or 20 years old.

The Fourth Type: Repaying Debts

If there are those who collect debts, there are also those who repay them. This type of karmic connection is similar to children who come to repay kindness. However, there is a clear difference: if the child owes you a lot, they will grow up and provide you with a comfortable life and help you enjoy your old age.

If the debt is small, as they grow older, they will only repay you with a modest amount of money.

Reflection

Buddha teaches that if there is no karmic connection between you and your child, they will not come to accept you as their parents. Giving birth is hard work, and parents should accumulate virtue for their children. Avoid doing evil deeds so that both you and your children do not have to bear negative karma in the future.

If your child does not turn out as you wish, do not be upset. It is simply a matter of repaying the karmic debt from your previous life.
