Singer-actress Pops Fernandez admitted that she and her ex-husband, Martin Nievera, do not always agree with one another.
The Philippines’ Concert Queen then admitted that while they are not 100% okay, they also know how to deal with their misunderstandings.
Pops and Martin were married for 14 years before deciding to part ways in 2000.
The 57-year-old singer-actress recalled that she just recently had a misunderstanding with Martin, but did not disclose the reason.
She shared that they will always have those petty fights as they “are in separate situations.”
“I don’t want to pretend na we are a hundred percent okay. We go through certain tampuhans, but what is good about it is we know how to deal with it,” she shared.
Despite not getting along with each other sometimes, Pops said that both she and Martin are mature enough to know when to settle things.
“I think because we choose to always be okay, na-sesettle naman siya. We settle everything privately, and we deal through all those misunderstandings privately,” she remarked.
Pops then got candid with the media in attendance at her press conference that it took her some time to heal the wounds from her separation from her former husband.
She also admitted how painful it was for her, saying it was the reason why it took time to rebuild their friendship again.
“I said it before, it took a lot of years because again ayokong balikan yung pain. Pero it has to be mentioned para alam din ng mga tao na hindi siya ganun kadali,” she said.
“If you think it’s easy, those things––emotions are never easy. You have to condition yourself, and you have to accept it. Then again, you have to be strong enough to admit it to yourself,” she added.
The singer-actress then addressed their fans who are still hoping that they would get back together again even if more than two decades have already passed since they went their separate ways.
She then expressed her gratitude to her fans who still celebrate their wedding anniversary. Then again, she said she hoped they would understand their situation.
“No matter how badly we explain ourselves and how honest we are sa public, syempre hindi naman mawawala [yung mga fans]. Kaya nga sila fans diba, cause they are hoping against hope na magkakabalikan kami,” she said.
“But I think ako sobra akong grateful na maski na alam nila medyo baka hindi na yun mangyari, they’re still there,” she added.
Meanwhile, Pops is set to hold her “Always Loved: A Pops Fernandez Concert” this coming February 9 and 10 at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City.
Tickets to her show are available on Ticketworld’s website.
