Red Velvet’s Wendy opens up about prioritizing team’s well-being and her personal struggles
Red Velvet‘s Wendy revealed her commitment to protecting her team by limiting her activities to only her home and the company for five years after her debut, in order to avoid causing harm.
During the video, when asked, “Who is your closest friend?” Wendy responded, “I am closest to myself. I’m a total homebody and don’t go out much. My goal this year is to meet people.”
She continued, “My only friend is my Pilates instructor, who gave me advice. she told me she regret not meeting more people in her 20’s.’ So I changed my goal.”
In response to repeated questions about why she doesn’t meet people, Wendy explained, “For five years after my debut, I only went between home and the company. I tried to be careful in my actions to avoid causing harm to the team. As a result, after five years, the company told me to go out more. I happily agreed and went home.”
Wendy also expressed her concerns about how others perceive her, stating, “There is a bit of worry about how people see me. Recently, I’ve been speaking up a bit more, and even after saying something, it weighs on my mind. It seems like I need time for this. It’s too difficult. I feel drained even after speaking up.”
