Have you figured out the safest seating positions on different means of transportation? Let’s find out together.
5-Seater Car
For 5-seater cars, the safest seat is the backseat behind the driver’s seat and the middle seat. These parts of the car are less likely to deform during head-on collisions.
The most dangerous seat is the one next to the driver’s seat. In accidents, drivers often try to steer, and the passenger in this seat may face the most danger. Front passengers also endure more inertial force, making them susceptible to head and chest injuries if seat belts and airbags do not function effectively. A broken front windshield can also pose a significant hazard.
7-Seater Car
In 7-seater vehicles, the safest position is the middle seat behind the driver’s seat. In case of a collision, the rear seats will endure less impact than the front seats.
Minibuses, Small Coaches (9 – 16 seats)
The safest seat in these vehicles is the rear seat behind the driver’s seat. In the event of a collision, this position is less affected, especially if the seat faces away from the direction of travel. Sitting facing the opposite direction of travel will be less affected by the inertial force during a collision.
The most dangerous position is the seat near the doors because broken glass or windows could lead to injuries.
Large Coaches, Buses
The safest position is in the middle of the train carriage.
The most dangerous seats are the first two rows of the train because in the event of a collision with foreign objects, shattered glass might hit passengers. Similar risks exist for seats near the doors. The seats at the rear are also unsafe in the scenario of a rear-end collision.
