Spending up to 5.4 million USD to buy a Ferrari 499P Modificata but not being able to bring the car home

Ferrari 499P Modificata is a project built on the foundation of the Ferrari racing car that won Le Mans and was ‘sold’ for 5.4 million USD in a quite special way.

Ferrari is one of the most prestigious brands in the global sports car industry. In addition to the entire popular lineup, they also have no shortage of crazy one-off supercar projects with terrible prices. The newly announced Ferrari 499P Modificata is also one of them.

According to the Italian brand, the Ferrari 499P Modificata is based on the company’s racing car that won Le Mans earlier this year. The hybrid V6 engine the car is equipped with “only” has a capacity of 760 horsepower, but comes with a series of top racing technology.

The design of the Ferrari 499P Modificata is no different from the most modern racing cars in the current sports racing industry.

When activating the highest support mode, which the racing version does not have, the total system capacity increases by 100 units to 860 maximum horsepower. The vehicle’s drive system is also 2-wheel drive compared to the 1-wheel drive of the racing version. The engine has been re-softened, the steering system and accompanying tires have also been adjusted to suit a more “common” driver set.

Almost the entire vehicle structure from chassis to body is made from carbon fiber. Combined with a pure racing cockpit but also not lacking in aesthetics and luxury, it is not surprising that the car price is up to 5.4 million USD. The above price makes this Ferrari’s most expensive project.

The cockpit retains the complex steering system of the racing car to convey a realistic racing driving experience to the user.

Even with the above amount, the actual buyer cannot own the car. Instead, they have the right to use this “full package” of super racing cars with Ferrari support 24/7. The Italian brand does not deliver the car but keeps it, however they will bring the car to many unofficial racing events at famous global racetracks for users to experience the car.

That way, Ferrari’s technical and logistics team will always accompany this supercar so users can just get in the car and experience it without having to worry about anything else. If you want to bring your car to a racetrack or an event that is not on the list, users need to pay the company an additional undisclosed fee.

When it rains, billion dollar supercars have to take out umbrellas to cover them
Driving a convertible on the highway in the rain is actually a trivial matter. Because of the extremely high speed combined with vehicle power and road design, it is almost impossible for rain to fall into the cabin.

But if the supercar goes on the street or stops, the story is completely different. In that “difficult” situation, the rich also have to find quick “firefighting” solutions.

Some have decided to turn their supercar into a “soft-top” version to limit water from falling inside and damaging the expensive cabin. The “soft tops” they use are umbrellas.

An Aston Martin is parked on a wealthy street in Mayfair, central London, England, as the rain pours down. The two-seat Aston Martin V12 Speedster is a completely roofless version, so the roof button cannot be pressed like some other convertibles.

But the owner of this sports convertible is not worried at all, because they used 3 umbrellas to protect the interior.

It takes 3 umbrellas to protect a limited edition supercar that costs about 1 million USD. There are only 88 cars of this type, making it difficult to own, let alone see on the street.

The video has attracted the attention of TikTok users. Many people have left humorous comments: “Be rich to suffer like the poor”, “Modern problems need simple solutions”, “What is the use of so much money”…

The owner of this Aston Martin is not the only one who has done that. A Reddit user posted a photo with the caption: “A $1.8 million car needs a $1.5 umbrella.”

Some netizens were confused by the fact that the convertible car owner brought the car out in the rain.

A Facebook page shared a photo in Taiwan (China) showing a bright red Ferrari Monza SP1, worth about 1.8 million USD, stopped at a red light in the rain.

Similar to the above cars, the owner of the Monza also has to turn on the umbrella to avoid being exposed to water. This humorous scene caught the attention of passersby, including the motorbike driver passing by.

The owner also shared the scene in the cabin and mocked himself for being a fool. The car owner told ETtoday that he hadn’t driven the car for half a year so he took it in for maintenance, but unexpectedly encountered the rain in the middle of the road. He also said that his friends who own convertibles also do the same, so he doesn’t see any problem – Photo: ETtoday/Facebook

The car owner also took a photo and shared it online, laughing at himself as a “fool”, making the online community laugh.

“It turns out rich people have to worry about getting wet in the rain like everyone else”, “Rich people also get hurt by the rain”, “Romance of the rich”, “Drivers with umbrellas are luxurious”, “The rich are willing to play” , “Don’t underestimate the umbrella, it’s a Ferrari”, “It only takes 1 second to pop the roof”… are some of the comments below the photos.
