Sydney Man Caught 'Sniffing A Substance' While Driving On Motorway

A Sydney driver has been allegedly caught by mobile phone detection camera doing something that certainly doesn’t look like driving.

The motorist behind the wheel of the Hyundai i30 sedan has been accused of snorting a powdered substance from a phone while the car was travelling down the M4 at Wentworthville just before midnight on August 14.

The photo snapped by the mobile detection camera allegedly shows the 21-year-old with his head lowered with what appears to be something in his nose while the passenger took control of the car.

The man has been issued a court attendance notice for driving without proper control of vehicle, negligent driving, and driver using a mobile phone when not permitted.

He is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court in the middle of next month.

The issue has been referred to Strike Force Puma within the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command for further investigation.

NSW Police have released a statement, saying: “Police will allege in court that the man was sniffing a substance off his mobile phone while driving and did not have his hands on the steering wheel while the vehicle was in motion.”
