In a broadcast, Taeyang and Daesung recount their active days as BIGBANG and narrated how they almost became the “Second TVXQ.
On April 12, the YouTube channel, “ZIP DAESUNG” uploaded a new video featuring GUNBANG, Korea’s first military group.
The team is comprised of Joowon, Beenzino, Ko Kyung Pyo, Taeyang and Daesung, which was formed while they were serving the military for the fans.
Taeyang Reveals YG’s Aspiration to Make BIGBANG Like TVXQ
The talk was filled with laughter and delight as they recalled their days in the military as well as delved into the topic of marriage.
Just then, Daesung smoothly shifted the conversation to BIGBANG when he asked Taeyang if he had seen anyone familiar in the studio.
The “Eyes, Nose, Lips” singer pointed at someone and was surprised to see his former elementary classmate who has now become a writer for Daesung’s show.
She then shared an anecdote when she met Taeyang in high school before his debut as BIGBANG and said:
“We met at the elementary school and then at high school. Right before he debuted as BIGBANG. And he said to me, ‘My company said that they’re going to make us like TVXQ.”
Hearing this, Daesung added:
“Right, because back then, TVXQ was on the top.”
However, Taeyang jokingly dissed YG by revealing his reaction at the time, saying:
“It meant more like… ‘like TVXQ?’ That’s nonsense.’ It should come after it. My company says they are going to make us like that. We thought that was nonsense. Us? It’s ridiculous because I wanted to become a rapper. But then TVXQ? Us?”
He continued:
“But then Daesung joined us. US?? They were dreaming big.”
Prior to BIGBANG’s debut in 2006, TVXQ, who debuted in 2003 was crowned as one of the biggest K-pop boy groups. They were known for their unrivaled visuals, vocals, dance skills and Emperor-like presence.
While YG attempted to make BIGBANG like them, the group strived an exact opposite path where they pushed for K-hip-hop, unconventional fashion and individuality, which later made them Kings of K-pop.
Gunbang Reacts to Daesung’s Wedding Plan
In the same broadcast, the quintet excluding Ko Kyung Pyo discussed Daesung’s wish to become married before he reach 40.
However, they were surprised that the male idol actually doesn’t like to sleep together with his future wife, but separately.
Taeyang narrated:
“Daesung said if he gets married, the ideal marriage life would be, there is a house with separate rooms, except for the schedule, they live separately. Only a few days of a week, let’s meet at the time.”
Daesung hinted at his worries and asked:
“I wonder, after marriage, your previous values are broken by themselves.”
Beenzino then gave him a serious advice:
“I think, yes. There are things we need to adjust together. There are things broken for the spouse and me. Both are broken.”
