The bride was unexpectedly severely burned on her face after being sprayed with colorful ribbon spray by family and friends during the wedding ceremony. This incident took place in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China, turning what was meant to be a joyous celebration into a tragedy for the young couple.
The bride suffered significant facial burns and deformities due to the spraying of multiple-colored ribbon spray by relatives and friends. According to her account, on December 23, as she exited the wedding car and walked towards the ceremonial hall with her groom, those around her quickly used spray bottles to shower the couple with multicolored ribbons.
Witnesses recall the bride smiling happily, but suddenly a puff of smoke rose from her hair, causing her to immediately cover her face and hide it in her groom’s embrace. Shortly after, the right side of her face turned red and swelled up.
Initially, despite feeling extreme heat on her face, the bride believed she would be fine. However, the following morning, upon waking up, she noticed severe damage with large blisters forming on her face. After being treated by doctors, her face was bandaged, resembling a mummy. Beneath the bandages, visible were extensive blackened burn injuries.
Ribbon spray bottles, commonly used during festive occasions like weddings, birthdays, proposals, and Christmas, emit a multitude of colorful strands when sprayed. This adds to the festive atmosphere and is popular due to its affordability, ease of cleaning post-celebration, and vibrant colors.
In Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China, the use of multicolored ribbon spray bottles has become prevalent during weddings for its inexpensive price, easy cleanup after the ceremony, and lively colors.
However, according to local firefighting personnel, these spray bottles contain ethanol and methane, which can easily catch fire when exposed to flames, causing burns or even a fire. In reality, there have been incidents where these spray bottles created flames as high as 1 meter.
