Tickets for this year’s Coachella became available on January 19th, and as of four days later, passes for the festival’s first weekend are still unclaimed – a phenomenon not seen in the past ten years.
Unlike previous years, where securing a Coachella weekend pass was difficult due to high demand, this year, there is no rapid sell-out experienced from 2014 to 2022, which ranged from only 40 minutes in 2015 to just over 4 hours in 2022.
Local American fans are pointing fingers at pricey tickets and a lineup that doesn’t quite justify the expense, especially in the midst of economic uncertainty affecting their spending habits.
For Coachella 2024, organizers are banking on big names like Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat to draw the crowds. Whether these headliners can revive the festival’s allure remains to be seen.
