Netizens have called out some top A-List actors for allegedly “disrespecting” the Asian stars presenting awards at the 2024 Oscars (Academy Awards) that took place on March 10 (local time).
When it came to “Best Actor in a Supporting Role,” Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan couldn’t hide his joy when he announced that Robert Downey Jr had won the award for his work in the hit movie Oppenheimer.
Yet, when Robert Downey Jr went on stage, netizens noticed that he seemingly ignored Ke Huy Quan completely.
While it could’ve been an accident, netizens then noticed the actor shake hands with others on stage, completely missing Ke Huy Quan out again. Normally, winners will always interact to some extent with the person giving the award.
When the video was shared, netizens were extremely angry as Robert Downey Jr was seen to ignore Ke Huy Quan.
It’s SO obvious that Robert Downey Jr. is intentionally ignoring Ke Huy Quan that it f*cking pisses me off. Like, Ke Huy Quan is literally the one handing him the award.

Even international fans shared their opinions, adding how angry they were that the actor had just ignored Ke Huy Quan on such a global stage.
When photos surfaced of Robert Downey Jr and Ke Huy Quan on Getty posted, netizens saw it more as performative and that the PR stunt was meant to downplay the criticisms the actor had received during the event.
Another moment caused controversy, and it involved legendary actor Michelle Yeoh.
Michelle Yeoh announced Emma Stone as the winner of “Best Actress.”
However, when Emma went to collect the award, it seemed as if Jennifer Lawrence was trying to get the trophy to give it to her rather than Michelle, who had announced the award.
After taking the award, Emma Stone interacted with all the women on the stage. However, it wasn’t until seemingly the last minute that Emma Stone properly acknowledged Michelle Yeoh.
When all the clips were shared, netizens got very angry at the “micro-aggressions” towards the top Asian stars at the event.
I’m seeing some talk about Robert Downey Jr ignoring Ke Huy Quan but I’m not seeing anything about Emma Stone doing basically the same thing to Michelle Yeoh pic.twitter.com/eh97F56Q61
