Fans were puzzled with the chaotic information.
In social media platform TikTok, a post was made by user @kimjxnniebxyy on August 12. The photo slides consisted of two photos. In the first picture, a fabricated headline was shared, stating that Beomgyu and Yeji are officially dating.
The user also added a caption saying, “Best couple,” followed by numerous hashtags of the idols and their respective groups.
On the second slide, the post included a “photo” of the two, who were allegedly spotted in open space and were seen going together for a night stroll.
This caused the video to shoot up in popularity, and as of August 17, the post currently garners 546.5k likes. It went viral across social media and gained the attention of many netizens, especially MOAs and MIDZYs.
K-pop this 2023 has been full of surprises such as the dating news of BLACKPINK Jisoo with actor Ahn Bo Hyun, which insinuated netizens to comment on Beomgyu and Yeji’s dating rumor. In the post, netizens immediately expressed their shock and support.
They commented:

While there were lots of support given to the idols, some countered these misleading dating claims with some backing evidence.
It turned out that the first headline photo was a fake one, added by the fact that no official statements were released from both idols’ respective agencies.
As for the second slide that included a photo of the two allegedly walking together, it was in fact taken during the filming of 2022 Chinese drama “The Oath of Love” that stars actors Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi, who are the real individuals in the picture.
