The difficult problem attracted 2 million comments

If the sum of 3 apples is 30, the sum of 1 apple and 2 bananas is 18, the difference of bananas and coconuts is 2. So what is the sum of coconuts, apples, and bananas?

The problem was shared by MindYourDecisions, attracting nearly half a million views and more than 1,400 comments. In your opinion, how to solve this problem?

Let’s start with the first calculation!

According to this formula, each apple is equivalent to 10, right?

One apple plus two bunches of bananas like this equals 18, so each bunch of bananas like this is worth 4. Remember, each bunch of bananas is worth 4!

Next, a bunch of bananas minus a coconut equals 2. So the coconut will be worth 2. Can’t go wrong!

So: Coconut + banana + apple = 2 + 4 + 10 = 16! Where can I go wrong? But the truth is that you have been deceived! Let’s take a closer look!

In this picture there is only 1/2 coconut, an apple and a bunch of bananas with 3 fruits, right? So coconut in this calculation has a value of 1, banana = 3 and apple = 10.

Coconut = 1, apple = 10 and banana = 3

The result will be: 1 + 10 + 3 = 14.
