Taylor Swift‘s fans may be in a frenzy over her apparent references to former boyfriends Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy on The Tortured Poets Department – but now insiders have revealed what her current partner Travis Kelce makes of the emotionally charged lyrics.
The singer, 34, officially dropped her 11th studio album on Friday, leaving fans scrambling to unravel the many pointed references to various romantic partners hidden within her lyrics.
But while Taylor made several digs at the likes of Matty, 35, and Joe, 32, NFL champ Travis, 34, reportedly has ‘zero concern’ for what she may be claiming about her exes, with the sportsman simply ‘proud’ of his girlfriend.
‘He understands this is a major part of what makes her the person and artist she. He supports her 100 per cent and loves everything she is doing.
‘Joe or any of her exes is not of concern to him whatsoever.’
Taylor surprised fans with a double album on Friday night, revealing a secret ‘second instalment,’ titled The Anthology, featuring nearly twice the number of songs as originally expected.
Fans unpicked the somewhat at times stinging lyrics, which appear to document her split from Joe and subsequent short-lived romance with 1975 frontman Matty – which neither party ever officially confirmed.
Taylor appears to accuse Joe of cheating and shattering her dreams of marriage and children in songs including So Long, London and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.
Other tracks seem heavily inspired by her time with Matty, who she was briefly linked to in spring 2023 following her split from Joe.
Their fling ended as fast as it began after Taylor received a backlash from fans over Matty’s ‘bad boy’ image and ‘racist’ impressions on a podcast.
Lyrics refer to a man in a ‘Jehovah’s Witness suit’ – Matty is known for his distinctive black suits – and typewriters, which feature on stage during his live shows.
There is also mention of drug use. The frontman, who is now dating model Gabbriette Bechtel, has talked openly about substance abuse in past interviews.
Matty’s family addressed the album, with his aunt telling DailyMail.com: ‘He will not be surprised by the song. Him and her know what went on.’
The album also appears to have reignited Taylor’s bitter and lengthy feud with Kim Kardashian, with apparent references to the reality star on the acerbic thanK you aIMee – which has the letters K, I, and M capped up.
Travis is not believed to be concerned about the potential backlash Taylor could receive as a result of her new album.
The source continued: ‘Now that the album is out and it goes after so many people, Travis is not concerned about any backlash. Taylor knows what she is doing, and she is just telling her truth.
‘Travis is proud of her, she is excited, and if anyone she talks about on these songs wants to tell their side of the story, Taylor welcomes it.’
The sportsman, who started dating Taylor last summer before quickly becoming the hottest celebrity couple, appears to get a mention on her penultimate track The Alchemy.
Taylor sings: ‘Cheers chanting ’cause they said / There was no chance / Trying to be the greatest in the league / Where’s the trophy?/ He just comes running over to me…
‘Touch down / Call the amateurs and cut them from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown, baby I’m the one to beat / ‘Cause the sign on your heart said it’s still reserved for me / Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?’
Other parts of the song refer to ‘blokes warm[ing] the benches.’
The NFL star is said to have planned something ‘special’ to mark the release of Tortured Poets Department, with insiders claiming he already has his favorites: Down Bad and loml.
The pair have been enjoying some downtime of late following his Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs in February and her break from her Eras Tour, which kicks off again in Paris, France on May 9.
The Tortured Poets Department sold 1.5 million copies in the US in its first three days and became the first album in Spotify’s history to have more than 300 million streams in a single day.
It reportedly ‘humiliated’ Kim Kardashian who is believed to be the target of thanK you aIMee, which centers on Taylor’s apparent dislike for a mean school girl she refers to as ‘Aimee’ – who fans believe is actually Kim as Taylor confirms she changed the name of the woman in question.
On Monday night Kim appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live – but no mention of Taylor was made.
