Not so long ago the star posted a video on TikTok, showing her makeup routine. In the beginning of the video, Gomez appeared completely makeup free. She went on to show her own-brand products Rare Beauty. At the end of the video, she posed in front of the camera in a complete look wearing a white cropped top.
Some users paid excessive attention to Selena’s belly. Someone wondered, “Is she pregnant?”, “What happened to your stomach?” Another user asked the same question, but also added that they were “worried” about Selena’s body.
Her body changed because of a condition
Selena was diagnozed with Lupus in 2014 and several years later had a kidney transplant. Now she takes lupus medication that makes her weight fluctuate. The star says, “My medications are important, and I believe they are what help me. So yeah, not a model. Never will be.”
Selena’s fans stood up for her
It wasn’t long until Gomez’s fans started defending her. One user wrote, “She had a kidney transplant, and she probably takes medication to control her sugar. Nothing is wrong with her.” Another added, “It’s because of her kidney transplant surgery.”
Someone opened up, “I really hope I get to meet you someday, give you a hug, tell you I love you, and share how you’ve impacted my life for the better.”
She handles criticism like a queen
Selena doesn’t care about what other people think, and you can feel this attitude a mile away. Once she posted a video on TikTok where she looks at her belly and says, “I’m not sucking it in. Real stomachs are coming back.”
In another TikTok video she said, “Trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box and I got 4 tacos, 3 egg rolls, onion rings, and a spicy chicken sandwich. But honestly, I don’t care about my weight. I am perfect the way I am.”
A plus-size model Ashley Graham has also experienced criticism, but unlike Selena, for losing weight. Ashley Graham fearlessly shares her experience, empowering us to challenge societal beauty standards and embrace body diversity.
