A YouTuber couple have revealed the gender of their second child on the Burj Khalifa. You can watch it here:
Anas and Asala Marwah – who have 7.69 million subscribers on YouTube – took the big reveal to just about the biggest level possible, with the gender of their next child projected onto the tallest building in the world, which towers 829.8 m (2,722 ft) over Dubai.
I mean, shy of projecting a big blue/pink light on the moon you can’t really go any bigger.

As the Burj Khalifa Twitter account put it: “The big news just can’t get bigger than this as the world’s tallest building lights up to reveal the biggest gender reveal ever!
“Congratulations @AnasMarwah and @AsalaMaleh”
In case you give a sh*t, the ‘Anasala Family’, as they are known on YouTube, are expecting a baby boy, their second child following Mila, who they had in 2018.

“Without you [their fans], none of this would have been made possible.”

So what do we make of the biggest gender reveal party ever – a glorious celebration of new life, or a garish and superfluous exercise in vanity?
For most of human history, parents would consider the birth of a healthy child (and the survival of the mum) the be all and end all.
Then along came ultrasound appointments and sneak gender peaks for expectant parents, and over time that has morphed into parties with pink confetti canons and blue balloons, and here we are now in the present day, with 160 storey high skyscrapers lit up so all of the United Arab Emirates knows whether a pair of YouTubers are expecting a boy or a girl.

As if it matters at all.
Good luck to the Anasala family, though.
