The delta variant is raging around the country and COVID-19 cases continue to surge nationwide. Hospitals in Florida are baring a big blunt of this. The state accounts for nearly 18% of all new COVID-19 cases, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Aurelio Fernandez is president and CEO of Memorial Healthcare System which operates six hospitals in Florida. Fernandez joined the Check Up to discuss how the surge is impacting the hospitals’ staffing and operations.
