Super Junior Kyuhyun’s older sister shares her account of the horrific accident that almost took her brother’s life

In the KBS2 Family Travel Variety show ‘Walking into Frenzy,’ which aired on July 2, Jo Ara, the older sister of Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, opened up about her brother’s harrowing car accident in 2007.

During this episode, Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk went on a trip to Tokyo with their sisters, Jo Ara and Lee So Ra. On this day, the four of them visited a popular ramen restaurant. As they relished the delicious meal, Eunhyuk expressed his delight, proclaiming, “This is the best ramen I’ve had in Japan.” Jo Ara joined in the praise, enthusiastically stating, “It’s absolutely perfect.”

Amid their sibling camaraderie, Jo Ara shared a deeply personal account of her relationship with her younger brother, recounting a fateful car accident.

She revealed, “I had been away (from my brother) for approximately 15 years due to my studies abroad.” Emotion welled up in her eyes as she continued, “During that time, Kyuhyu got into a big accident earlier in his debut.”

She continued, “During that time, I was studying abroad and in the middle of a semester. I didn’t have the money to purchase a plane ticket, so I desperately turned to my phone and the internet, begging, ‘Please save Kyuhyun.’

Her heartfelt plea spoke volumes about her deep bond with her brother. She added, “To me, Kyuhyun’s existence is incredibly precious and irreplaceable. He is the youngest who miraculously survived that horrific accident. No matter what Kyuhyun says, everything about him is beautiful and precious to me.

On April 19, 2007, Kyuhyun experienced a life-threatening accident while participating in group activities. A car had crossed the center line and collided with the vehicle he was in, causing him to be ejected.

At the time, Kyuhyun faced a daunting 20% chance of losing his voice if he underwent surgery. His father, determined to safeguard his son’s dream, vehemently opposed the procedure to put a hole in Kyuhyun’s neck.

Fortunately, Kyuhyun emerged triumphant. He underwent the surgery and managed to preserve both his life and voice. Astonishingly, after four days in a coma, Kyuhyun miraculously regained consciousness.

In a previous appearance on an entertainment program, Kyuhyun had described the terrifying moment of the accident, revealing, “I felt as though the lower half of my body didn’t exist.

Kyuhyun made his debut in the entertainment industry in 2006 when he joined SM Entertainment as a member of the boy group Super Junior. His journey since then has been marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering spirit that continues to inspire his fans worldwide.
