BLACKPINK’s Lisa has left fans pondering her future with YG Entertainment
Despite BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment having officially expired back in August, there’s been no official announcement on whether they will renew their contracts with YG. This lingering uncertainty has prompted netizens to wonder if BLACKPINK members are on the verge of parting ways with YG.
Among the members, Lisa has become the center of such speculations. This speculation was further fueled after Lisa’s performances at the Crazy Horse Cabaret in Paris, which had netizens thinking she was ready to broaden her horizons beyond K-pop.
Things got even more interesting as some eagle-eyed netizens have been scrutinizing Lisa’s Instagram account.
On October 16, Lisa gained two new followers. The first one is Luis Gerardo Cárdenas, creative manager at Columbia Records, while the other is Chika Ifediora, the director of Digital Marketing at the same label.
What’s noteworthy is that Ifediora appears to exclusively follow artists under Columbia Records, except for Billie Eilish and Lisa.
But it’s important to note that Lisa isn’t the first BLACKPINK member to be linked to Columbia Records. Rumors are also swirling around Rosé and the possibility of her signing with Columbia Records as well, as a photo of her dining with the label’s CEO recently surfaced.
In previous instances, Korean media reported that Lisa had turned down offers twice from YG to persuade her to renew her contract. YG reportedly offered Lisa a signing bonus of $40 million, but she rejected. There is also a rumor about Lisa signing with a Thai entertainment company.
Some sources suggest that Rosé might be the only member to have re-signed with YG. Meanwhile, Jennie and Jisoo are believed to be establishing their own companies to handle their solo activities.
