Looking for a larger version of the Suzuki Jimny? “Double Jimny” may be the ideal choice for fans of this car.
At the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 event, a group of students from Nippon Automobile College demonstrated their abilities by creating an extremely unique looking car.
NATS Shakotan Jimny J1 is actually assembled from two Suzuki models, Jimny and Escudo/Vitara.
Called NATS Shakotan Jimny J1, the Japanese student’s customized car stood out at the exhibition with an appearance quite similar to the Toyota Mega Cruiser, nicknamed “Japanese Hummer”, but looks more rafty.
This unique car was born from combining the “shells” of two Suzuki Jimny J1s with the chassis and V6 H25A engine of Suzuki Escudo (also known as Vitara). Despite its attractive appearance, the car’s chassis is so low that it feels like the car is sinking in the sand. The cabin is small but still enough for one person to sit comfortably. The trunk is mainly used to accommodate the Diecock sound system with 12 speakers, including two large subwoofers that fill most of the area.
The car easily impresses with its expansive appearance, although interior comfort is still a big question mark.
Although cargo space is limited, the customized “Suzuki Jimny” still has a roof rack, increasing the vehicle’s convenience. In addition, the car is also equipped with a steering wheel from Moon Eyes Japan, Toyo tires and wheels from iMLA. The H25A engine retains the same 160 horsepower as the 2001 Escudo model.

Although not everyone likes unique custom cars, this is a testament to the creativity and technical knowledge of young people. They not only create fancy looking cars, but also powerful cars like the 600 horsepower Toyota GR Supra convertible and the Toyota GR GT3.
