Beloved actor Macaulay Culkin has shared his experience showing one of his children the Christmas classic, Home Alone. And Culkin could not resist a little prank while doing so. Speaking with ET at his recent Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony, Culkin said that he managed to convince his son that he was the child in the movie…and that his son couldn’t help but be persuaded. See what Culkin had to say below…
“I already showed it to him last year, he thinks it’s so funny. I convinced my oldest that he’s the kid in the movie. I said, ‘Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah!’ He is such a liar. I’m like, ‘You don’t remember any of that.'”
Of course, Home Alone is such a cherished childhood holiday favorite that no doubt many of us have felt like we too were Kevin McCallister, the capable eight-year-old who foils the burgling duo the Wet Bandits in the first movie. So, you can’t really blame Culkin’s son for falling for his father’s jape. Especially when the real Kevin McCallister is sitting right next to him.
Released way back in 1990, Home Alone comes courtesy of director Chris Columbus and writer and producer John Hughes. Starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, and Catherine O’Hara, the story follows a kid who is accidently left alone over Christmas and must stop a pair of burglars from breaking into his house.
Home Alone, and its equally beloved sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, now sit at the top of many a ‘Christmas Favorites’ list.
