ZEROBASEONE Kim Jiwoong Draws Criticism For ‘Lacking’ Performance Skills, ZEROSEs Come To Idol’s Defense
On March 25, a netizen established an online forum, which criticized the singing and dancing skills of Kim Jiwoong.
According to OP’s caption, netizens are claiming that Jiwoong was lacking flair in his dancing and vocals. It followed that apart from his performances on stage, the idol was also claimed to have been criticized for his hairstyle and visuals.
“I have seen comments talking about how he’s shockingly bad at dancing and that his singing sucks too,” OP shared. “They say his hair makes his face look freaking ugly.”
It continued, “People are saying that he can’t even pull his weight with his talent for one person. Is he actually that bad?”
The author also uploaded several tweets that showcased some of Jiwoong’s stages.

Unfortunately, in the comments section, some netizens weren’t satisfied with his skills as a performer.
“Honestly speaking, he does pull his weight for 1 person.”
“I’ve never mocked him, but I do think that he sucks at dancing.”
“He’s too burdensome to look at.”
“The way he dances is old-fashioned and he doesn’t suit the group’s image.”
“His face looks too much like an ahjussi.”
“First of all, he overdoes it and he’s uncomfortable to watch.”
“He’s not bad, but the way he dances is just weird.”
Meanwhile, some countered that the criticism around Jiwoong’s dancing skills was only blown out of proportion. Others even defended the idol from the harsh remarks about his visuals and pointed out how Jiwoong’s charismatic vibe just contradicts ZB1’s youthful concept.
“This is just the vibe he gives, but I don’t think he’s bad, nor do I think he’s good. He’s just okay and he pulls his weight for 1 person.”
“Because of his lower body, he sticks out a bit, but I never really felt compelled to watch his fancams anyway.”
“I’m another group’s fan and I’ve seen videos mocking his dancing, but I honestly think his dancing is fine. I’ve never heard him sing though.”
“I think he’s a good/charismatic performer and super hot but is in a group that has a more youthful/bright concept and that’s not his comfort zone.”
“They voted for him to be in the group don’t come here saying he’s talentless now lmao.”
“He was the OG Boys Planet’s top visuals. This is obviously just forced hate.”
In other news, Jiwoong stirred the K-pop community for allegedly swearing during a fancall. The incident began on February 2, when an internet user uploaded a viral clip showing the idol allegedly saying “s**bal” (translates to ‘f**k’) after the call ended.
Afterwards, the idol has since experienced continuous backlash from netizens, which even led to protests requesting his removal from ZEROBASEONE.
