Wildcard’s long-awaited sequel game to its massively popular 2017 dino-survival ‘Ark’ is still on track for its late 2024 release.
Talks of Ark 2’s release window, DLC plans through to 2029, and expansion into both TV and movies such as the upcoming Animated Series all revealed by Snail Games CEO Jim Tsai.
Game developer Studio Wildcard may currently be trying to win back players after the backlash that was Ark Survival Ascended, but on a more positive sidenote, its parent company CEO Jim Tsai has provided an update on the long-awaited Ark 2.
While talking at the NobleCon19 business conference earlier this month, Snail Games CEO Tsai confirmed that Ark 2 is currently planned to be released in late 2024.
Tsai also described the upcoming sequel game as their “next masterpiece”.
During Tsai’s talk at the conference, reveals such as planned annual DLC releases lasting up to 2029 to, as he put it “fuel franchise growth”, were also shared.
Ark 2 was first announced during The Game Awards 2020 when Vin Diesel made a surprise cameo to reveal the big news, however, it then had a release date of 2022 – now being delayed by at least two years.
It was initially delayed until 2023, and then delayed again with CEO Tsai now confirming that late 2024 should be the safe date for Ark fans to save in their calendars – as for a specific date, that has yet to be announced.
As also revealed earlier this year, Ark 2 will now be coming exclusively to Xbox Series X and S consoles, with it also having a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass, and on PC’s Steam and Windows.
Ark’s TV & Movie Potential Talks
The Snail Games CEO also touched on Ark’s massive potential to expand into the world of Hollywood’s TV and movies, with Ark: The Animated Series also expected to release sometime in 2024.
Starring in the upcoming animated series has some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Vin Deisel who reprises the role of Santiago, Elliot Page, Russell Crowe, David Tennant, and Michelle Yeoh, among many other well-known names.
Considering that the studio has already managed to acquire such talent for both its game and animated series, it could be that they plan on bringing over the same cast to a live-action realm.
Ark 2 is currently slated for a late 2024 release, exclusively on Xbox Series X and S consoles, PC and Windows – with it being available on Xbox Game Pass on its day-one release.
