It sounds like these two got lost in the Las Vegas game.
When Britney Spears and Jason Alexander got married in Sin City in 2004—and then had the marriage annulled only 55 hours later—many people thought their heads were spinnin’ round and round. But the truth is much simpler.
“I was just honestly very drunk,” Britney revealed of her her decision to tie the knot in her new memoir The Woman in Me. “And probably, in a more general sense at that time in my life, very bored.”
But despite the fact the marriage was to a childhood friend and lasted for less time than many cross-country road trips, the pop star’s family was not thrilled by the union.
Britney wrote that for her family, it was “like I’d started World War III,” even though when it came to her feelings about it, the spontaneous coupling was nothing more than “innocent fun.”
After her 2004 annulment, the “Toxic” singer would go on to marry Kevin Federline—with whom she shares sons Sean, 18, and Jayden, 17—later that year before splitting in 2007, and then Sam Asghari in 2022.
In fact, shortly before Britney and Sam tied the knot, her ex-husband Jason was arrested after showing up at their wedding venue uninvited. He was later found guilty after pleading no contest to the charges of aggravated misdemeanor trespassing and battery.
As for Britney and Sam, their relationship has also since ended, with the fitness instructor filing for divorce from Britney in August after one year of marriage.
