Will Cha Eun-woo and Jeon Jong-seo overcome the weight of their new lead roles?
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Wonderful World” starring Cha Eun-woo will air for the first time on March 1st. This is a mystery drama in which Eun Soo-hyun (played by Kim Nam-joo), who personally executed the killer who killed her son, digs up the mystery secrets related to that day.
This MBC Friday-Saturday drama will have a lot of pressure as its predecessors “My Dearest,” “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” and “Knight Flower” are big hits in a row. Especially the male lead Cha Eun-woo will be with acting with Kim Nam-joo in her return drama after six years.
Cha Eun-woo returned quickly in less than two months after “A Good Day To Be A Dog,” which ended in January, with a low viewer rating of 1.5% at the time, and the highest viewer rating was only 2.8%. In the midst of this, he is making a comeback with a MBC Friday-Saturday drama, which has been a hit in a role, and working with the veteran counterpart Kim Nam-joo.
Cha Eun-woo appeared on MBC FM4U’s radio show “2 O’clock Date With Jaejae” and announced a rating pledge, saying, “If the viewership exceeds 20%, I will sing Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.”
With the continuous success of MBC’s Friday-Saturday dramas, if the flow is cut off, the eyes will inevitably be on Cha Eun-woo rather than Kim Nam-joo, the “Queen of Ratings.” He will even face off against Kim Soo-hyun in the drama “Queen of Tears,” which will premiere on the 9th in the same time slot.
Meanwhile, tvN’s “Wedding Impossible” is aired as a follow-up Monday-Tuesday drama after “Marry My Husband,” which was a huge success. Park Min-young, Song Ha-yoon, and Lee Yi-kyung were well received by viewers, and the drama recorded 12% of ratings, ranking first in average ratings of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday dramas.
Jeon Jong-seo played the leading role in tvN’s “Wedding Impossible.” This is also her first TV drama lead role. “Wedding Impossible” is a drama about a romantic mission between Na Na-jeong (played by Jeon Jong-seo), an unknown actress who decided to marry her male friend in disguise, and Lee Ji-han (Moon Sang-min), her brother-in-law who opposes this marriage. It is based on a web novel of the same name. Jeon plays the role of Na-jeong, a minor actor who is full of acting skills but low in recognition.
“Wedding Impossible,” which first aired on February 26th, recorded 4.0% and 4.1% of ratings in the first and second episodes, respectively. Since only two episodes have been aired, attention is focusing on whether the ratings will rise.
