Dropping a burning match into the toilet
Toilets and drains that have not been cleaned for a long time will cause unpleasant odors and affect human health. The problem of toilet odors seems complicated but is quickly solved in an unexpected way, which is a matchstick. This method is especially useful for families with poorly ventilated toilets and difficult air circulation with the outside. Try the following ways to clean the toilet and feel the effectiveness it brings.

1. Deodorize the toilet with a matchstick
Using a matchstick to deodorize the toilet sounds absurd, but it is completely based on science. The reason we can use a matchstick is because the process of going to the toilet will create methyl mercaptan gas. This gas brings an unpleasant feeling, pollutes the air and leaves a lingering odor. Meanwhile, a matchstick contains sulfur. When burning a matchstick, it will create sulfur dioxide gas, which will immediately overpower the smell of methyl mercaptan.
Therefore, after going to the toilet, lighting a match will immediately remove the bad smell. However, you should also be careful with this method with the drains, do not throw the half-burned match down the drain because methane gas may exist under the drains. When exposed to fire, this gas can ignite when used and can cause a fire if there is a lot of gas in it.
2. Deodorize the toilet with ice cubes
Many people think that this method is very absurd because pouring a large amount of ice cubes down the toilet will clog the drain. But in fact, it is completely opposite, this method is simple, cheap but highly effective and you can also easily see it applied quite a lot in public toilets.
When pouring ice cubes down the toilet and flushing strongly, the ice will be washed away, along with its great gravity, it will create strong pressure to push down below. Therefore, it will wash away the blockage below into the septic tank. In addition, ice cubes immediately cool the ammonia gas in urine. When the ice is completely melted, it will dilute the urine solution, thereby evaporating the dirt very quickly. Ice also makes it impossible for bacteria to survive, so it has an extremely good antibacterial effect. Therefore, this is a new and highly effective solution that should be applied when the toilet is clogged and causes odor.
3. Deodorize the toilet with baking soda, salt, lemon
Use a mixture of salt, lemon and baking soda mixed with a little water. Then pour it directly into the toilet and wait about 5 to 10 minutes, then flush the water so that the mixture carries away the dirt and odor with the water. This method will both disinfect, remove the dirt around the toilet wall and deodorize extremely effectively. After use, the scent of lemon essential oil will waft, bringing a more pleasant feeling for the next time you go to the toilet.
In case you don't have baking soda at home, you just need to use fresh lemon, a little salt and water. Blend this mixture and pour it into the toilet. Wait a while and then flush the water to remove the odor very effectively.
4. Deodorize the toilet with an old sock and a bar of soap
This method is extremely simple, just need an old sock and a bar of scented soap, you will keep your toilet always clean and fragrant. You put the bar of soap inside the sock. Tie the sock tightly and put it inside the toilet lid. The soap will slowly dissolve and dilute into the flushing water. When you press the button, this amount of water will clean the toilet and retain the fragrance for a long time.
Doing this will keep the toilet always bright white, you don't even need to wipe the toilet back often. It saves cleaning time and ensures a long-lasting fragrance. Choose the types of soap with your favorite scent to make the bathroom space more ideal.
5. Deodorize the toilet with specialized solutions
The plaque on the toilet also creates a bad smell. The residual gas smell after going to the toilet also remains inside the toilet lid. Specialized toilet cleaning solutions will remove plaque and odors best because the activity of this solution is quite strong. However, you must use specialized gloves and a mask when using them to ensure your safety from being exposed to toxic chemicals.
