Ellen Adarna and John Lloyd Cruz, like many former couples, face the common challenge of dividing financial responsibilities for their child.

In an Instagram Q&A session on June 30, 2023, Ellen confirmed that John Lloyd fulfills his financial obligations for their son Elias.

She candidly revealed that they have reached an agreement and, to her surprise, John Lloyd even goes above and beyond by doubling the initial agreement.

Addressing her followers, she said, “Okay, I’m going to answer this because I get this a lot. Yes, he does.”

She continued, “When he asked me, how much does Elias need, I gave him a breakdown of his basic needs, just his basic needs, and that’s 10,000 pesos max.

“But he insisted on doubling it.”

Ellen acknowledges that John Lloyd is capable of providing more for their son, but she chooses not to ask him for anything beyond what their son needs.

She explained, “I know he’s more than capable of giving more than that, but I told him I cannot accept anything more than PHP20,000, and that’s it.

“I also have, because we are co-parenting, I have my obligations and responsibilities for Elias, so it’s just fair.

“So, there. Anything more than PHP20,000 for me is just not right, morally not right, because he’s not schooling yet.

“He hasn’t started school, so that’s just basic needs.”

ELLEN ADARNA ON MANAGING HER FINANCES

Ellen also addressed other questions related to household finance management from her followers.

Despite being well-off, she was asked if she still maintains a budget for her money.

Ellen confirmed and emphasized, “Yes, because money is not unlimited.”

In a separate post, Ellen was asked about how she and husband Derek Ramsay manage their household finances.

The former actress revealed that they maintain separate bank accounts and only have a joint account reserved for emergencies and travel expenses.

Addressing the Instagram follower who sent the question, she said, “Honestly, ‘Day, our finances, how we handle our finances are still the same when we started dating.

“He has his own, I have my own, but we do have a joint account and we only use that for emergency… when there’s something at home or when we travel.

“But, there, so far there’s no problem about the finances… We’re not there yet discussing about things like that.”

In another question, an Instagram follower asked if Derek provides her with financial support.

Ellen replied that she would only ask for financial assistance in desperate situations.

She said, “Maybe if I don’t have a job and there’s no money coming in, maybe I will ask money from him but that’s a desperate situation already.”

However, Ellen mentioned that she wouldn’t allow herself to reach that point, as she finds it difficult and burdensome to ask for money.

She further explained, “Masakit sa loob ko, ‘Day. Mabigat to ask something from someone.

“I wasn’t raised like that and knowing myself I will never allow that to happen to me, I will find ways.

“So, like I said ,how the situation is the same when we first started dating he has his own, I have my own.”
