Emma Stone Has a Plan Involving a Party Bus With Her ‘Poor Things’ Crew After Film Bashes ‘Barbie’ at the Golden Globes

Barbie entered 2024 having shattered countless expectations on several fronts. From a record box office collection to the highest number of nominations at this season’s Golden Globes, the pair of Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig certainly had the best year in Hollywood.

However, 2024 started on a relatively disappointing note, with Barbie only taking home the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award. Most frustratingly for Barbie fans, the fantasy comedy missed out on the Globe for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, to Poor Things.

How Emma Stone Plans to Celebrate Poor Things’ Golden Globes Triumph

Poor Things, which chronicles the whirlwind adventure of Bella Baxter; a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist, Dr. Godwin Baxter, proved to be the underdog winner at the 81st Golden Globe Awards.

The science fiction black comedy, which was made with a relatively low budget of $35 million, blew high-profile projects like Barbie out of the water in two major categories. Apart from the aforementioned success, the film’s lead star, Emma Stone, won the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Big nights deserve big celebrations. The Poor Things team, which includes Yorgos Lanthimos and Mark Ruffalo, were asked how they plan to celebrate this achievement.

Accordingly, Stone quipped: “We do have a party bus that we all rode here on.”

Ruffalo, who portrayed Duncan Wedderburn – a lawyer with whom Bella runs off after her intelligence rapidly develops – jokingly revealed the team also had “different” plans for a potential night bereft of any award.

How Jennifer Lawrence Reacted to Emma Stone’s Golden Globes Win

When a camera panned towards her during the announcement of the nominees, she was seen mouthing, “If I don’t win, I’m leaving.”

However, as soon as Stone was announced the winner, Lawrence forgot her hilarious ‘threat’ and threw her hands in the air to celebrate the Poor Things star’s victory and appeared to yell, “Mother!”

They have been friends for over a decade thanks to Woody Harrelson, who supposedly acted as the bridge after working with Stone and Lawrence in Zombieland and The Hunger Games.
