Gabbi Garcia is proud outfit-repeater: “May washing machine kami!”

Gabbi Garcia

Celebrities like Gabbi Garcia often experience stigma when repeating clothes.

For some reason, celebrities and other prominent public figures have been revered to be fashion icons in their own right, with truckloads of fancy outfits neatly stashed in their cabinets, arranged conveniently by brand or color, and ready to be worn to match their moods or other whimsical fancies.

Taken to extremes, some celebrities (guess who?) actually make it a point NOT to repeat any of their outfits, and consider it a MORTAL SIN to be caught wearing any of their past Outfits of the Day (OOTDs).

But Gabbi isn’t buying into that drama.

In fact, the 23-year-old Kapuso actress firmly believes that repeating OOTDs should actually be encouraged.

Asked if she’s scared to be called an outfit-repeater, the former Encantadia actress proudly answered, “No, my gosh! May washing machine kami!”

PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with Gabbi in an exclusive interview last November 10, 2022, at the grand opening of Urban Revivo in Glorietta 3, Makati.

Gabbi said one of her major conditions when shopping for clothes or buying items from luxury brands is that she can use them multiple times.

She said, “Ako, it should be something that I can re-wear.

“Ang important na kasi ng sustainability ngayon. Hindi na talaga dapat yung kada isang gamit, buy na agad.”

The Sparkle talent added, “You can always re-style it kasi, e. Like, kunyare one top, nagamit mo na. Puwede mo rin siyang lagyan ng jacket or something.

“Maraming puwedeng gawin para maging stylish pa rin yung outfit.”

Gabbi also notes the importance of saving money instead of just splurging on clothes that she’d only get to wear once.

She asserted, “We’re in the day and age na priority na natin ang pagse-save talaga. So, I think it’s just practical. As long as you look presentable, why not di ba?”

BUSINESS WITH KHALIL RAMOS

Gabbi has recently been busy with her new business venture with her boyfriend Khalil Ramos.

In partnership with CloudEats, the couple launched their first-ever food business called Meat Up! with Gabbi and Khalil last October 2022.

Gabbi says she is very much enjoying her journey in this business.

She said, “It’s a totally different world for me, kasi first time talaga namin mag-venture into food business.

“Pero so far, so good. Nag-eenjoy kami kasi very hands on din kaming dalawa when it comes to marketing, when it comes to really promoting the food.”

For his part, Khalil said he’s still learning about their new business and hopes that more people get to discover the food they’re serving.

He told PEP.ph, “Yun nga, medyo bago pa kami sa business so we’re still learning the ropes. Pero good thing, we have partners that really trust us and we trust them as well.

“Sobrang pinapadali nila yung life namin. Yun, so far, so good. And hopefully, mas dumating pa siya sa ibang tao, mas maging known pa siya eventually.”

Asked how they usually divide the roles in their business, Gabbi said she’s usually the one handling the marketing side while Khalil does the tech-related stuff and “boring” paper work.

Gabbi said, “Lahat ng tech stuff, yung mga camera tech stuff, yung mga billing, yung mga paper works, siya yun.

“Yung sa mga exciting, mga kaartehan, pagpo-promote, ako yun. Social media, ganun.”
