Geneva Cruz, KC Montero open up on why they separated

Ex-couple Geneva Cruz and KC Montero opened up about why they separated.

Geneva shared that their falling out started when she decided to return to the Philippines to resume her singing career.

“Nagkaroon ng problem talaga noong, ‘yun nga, I started working here again. We lived in the States, he followed me and nagkaroon ng problem na nung physically nagkaroon ng distance… Of course mahirap ‘yun, and ako naman, a part of me wants to sing na parang hindi ko naiisip na ‘teka muna’ na parang ‘huy ano ka ba, pamilya na lang’ ganyan,”  she said in an episode of the EXpecially For You segment of It’s Showtime.

She continued: “Pero ayun nga, sabi nga sakin one time, we were born a singer, a performer, and it was the only thing that I knew what to do ‘di ba?”

KC, who also participated in EXpecially For You, admitted that they tried to work it out but due to the long distance relationship, it did not work out for them.

“She went back to the Philippines because ito ‘yung buhay niya. She’s born a singer, so she should shine as a star, so at that time hiwalay kami … And I don’t know, the same goes, pero three months, six months maybe longer, at that time parang the feelings just kind of faded for me and at that time I don’t know, parang it’s hard to communicate,” he said.

The ex-couple were together for ten years before parting ways.

Geneva shared that her eldest son Heaven was immensely affected by their breakup. Heaven was Geneva’s son from her former partner Paco Arespacochaga.

“It broke Heaven. Siya ang affected talaga,” Geneva admitted.  “Kasi stable yung family, kasi mas naging close siya dito kay KC, siya ‘yung nagpalaki kay Heaven. So for many years, nag-iba siya.”

“When I gave birth with my daughter London (Geneva’s daughter from former partner Lee Paulsen), I stayed with Heaven na dapat nga one year ‘yun but I stayed with him for six years,” she continued.  “Sabi ko sa kaniya ‘Anak babawi ako’ and then he told me na ‘Mom I’m okay na you may go ahead and follow your dreams still, your turning 50 soon go ahead and go home.”

“Kasi noong time na iyan, how old is Heaven mga 12? 11? Again, just exactly what Geneva said that the hardest part was kay Heaven. Kasi ako, I’ll be fine, ‘yung nanay niya will be fine. But si Heaven, at such a young age, he experienced so much with his father, Paco ,with myself. So actually ngayon, I’m very proud of where he is today,” KC added. “Kahit na we don’t talk a lot, kahit na minsan lang sa birthday niya, happy birthday.”

“The last time he was here I didn’t see him, and feeling ko may something there; that I’m sure he resents me somehow,” he added.

KC believes that Heaven understands now the situation.

“We had our attempts, but I think he’s a grown man now and he understands that I couldn’t be there after we were not together,” KC remarked.
