Liza Soberano expressed her pride for Enrique Gil as she talked about their relationship for the first time since split rumors about them circulated on social media.
In an interview with MJ Felipe at the recently concluded Vogue Philippines anniversary gala, the actress said that she’s proud of her boyfriend, who is back in the entertainment scene after years of hiatus.
“I’m really happy to see him flourishing. The project he’s working on right now is something he’s producing himself so I’m really proud of him for that, very supportive,” she said, referring to Enrique’s comeback film I Am Not Big Bird.
Liza also said that they still make it a point to hang out from time to time, even though they have been extremely busy with their careers lately. “Every once in a while, I think occasionally mostly because we’re both, like, constantly flying,” Liza explained.
“I’ve been in the [United] States for a while and then I came back, and he’s been flying. So, yeah, it’s very seldom now,” she added.
This comes after the breakup rumors between them made the rounds online early this year, when fans noticed that Liza hasn’t been posting about Enrique on her social media pages, even on his birthday last March 30.
Liza’s former talent manager Ogie Diaz claimed on May 30 that the actress has broken up with Enrique, saying that it was caused by her “choice” to pursue a Hollywood career.
The two were spotted together at their friend’s engagement party in June.
In a July interview, Enrique also stressed that she and Liza are “good.”
The LizQuen loveteam debuted in the teleserye Forevermore in 2014. Liza and Enrique were in a relationship for the past eight years, though they only went public about their status in 2019.
