“I’m sorry if that’s how she felt.”
Thus said Jerome Ponce when asked about Aiko Melendez’s Facebook post in which she criticized an actor with the initials “JP.”
Aiko’s now-deleted blind item last month read:
“Dios mio, JP … ‘wag ka masyado mayabang. Wala ka pa napapatunayan sa industriya para maging mayabang. Lord, turuan n’yo naman itong bagets na ‘to na matutong makisama. ‘Di porke’t bida ka, attitude ka. Very wrong! Seminar ka muna para maging mabait ka.”
The actress took down the post eventually but not before show biz observers connected the dots and deduced that there was a good chance that the “JP” she was referring to was Jerome Ponce. After all, Jerome and Aiko’s son, Andrei Yllana, are both part of the upcoming Viva One series, “Safe Skies, Archer.”
No beef with anyone
At a recent press conference for the show, Jerome surmised that it was probably a case of misunderstanding.
“Baka siguro pangit talaga ugali ko … Or maybe I’m antipatiko,” he quipped in a rather self-deprecating manner. But turning serious, he stressed he has no beef with anyone. “I don’t have a problem with anyone. I guess it’s just a misunderstanding.”
“Perhaps I can come across as a snob at first, but you know me… I mean you guys can approach me,” he added.
Nonetheless, Jerome is still apologetic. “Kung saan man nanggaling, I’m sorry … Miss Aiko knows people who know me,” he said, adding that all is well between him and Andre.
“OK na OK kami. I was just surprised where that came from. I think it was just first impression,” he said. INQ
