Recently, with news of Kim Chung-hoon’s remarriage, more attention is drawn to the father-son relationship.
Kim Chung-hoon was a prominent figure as the leader and lead vocalist of the legendary underground rock band Seven Dolphins in the mid-1980s. Despite being a band adored by many in their prime, Seven Dolphins faced declining popularity after the emergence of the equally legendary band Songolmae, which produced popular singers like Bae Cheol-soo and Gu Chang-mo.
During their active years, Kim Chung-hoon and other members of Seven Dolphins were known to receive large sums, exceeding 5 million won per performance, indicating their popularity.
Kim Chung-hoon continued his solo career by releasing solo songs like “Here Oppa Arrived” and “There’s A Fire Next Door” in 2009. In the mid-2010s, he released songs like “Mask”, “I’m angry because I’m older” and “Bravo”. News of his first solo concert in June last year drew attention, with a guest lineup including famous singers like Jung Su-ra and Kim Bum-ryong.
Kim Chung-hoon is said to have divorced his wife during his days of touring the country with the band. Later, he met a new partner, remarried and started a new family, having a child named Kim Joo-na. Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Joo-na are step-siblings.
In a 2020 episode of Channel A’s “Rumor Has It”, panelist Hwang Young-jin mentioned, “Isn’t Kim Soo-hyun financially comfortable? It’s been reported that he financially supports his father, stepmother and step-sibling.” This statement became a hot issue.
Similarly, in a 2016 episode of MBN’s “Curious Story”, panelist Wie Il-chung shared, “After Kim Soo-hyun became a star, I tried calling (Kim Chung-hoon). Kim Chung-hoon said he sometimes sees Kim Soo-hyun. When Kim Soo-hyun was young, Kim Chung-hoon couldn’t contact his son often, worried about influencing his adolescence, but after his son became a celebrity, he contacted him first, and now they have a relationship like any other father and son.”
According to a report by The Fact on April 13th, Kim Chung-hoon quietly held a remarriage ceremony at a venue in Gangnam, Seoul. Although the couple has been together for a long time since their remarriage, they had not held a formal ceremony until recently.
