Kris Bernal gave a postpartum update as she got real about the challenges she’s facing in her motherhood journey.
In her now-expired Instagram stories, the actress shared that she’s been struggling lately, saying that her frustration levels “are always high” and that her emotions have been “all over” the place.
“It’s hard. It’s okay to talk about how hard this phase is. I cry every single day as it feels endless and I feel alone,” she opened up. “I miss my old life. I miss the old me.”
Kris, however, emphasized that she loves being a mother and “someone’s everything” despite the challenges.
“But, motherhood is tough. Breastfeeding is very challenging and it’s just normal to feel this way,” she explained.
In another post, the local star said that the postpartum blues “hit late” on her. “I was thriving during the first 5-6 weeks until I realized, paulit-ulit na lang at pagod na ako.”
“I am human. It’s okay to be vulnerable. It’s okay to admit that I’m struggling,” she concluded.
Kris welcomed her child Hailee Luca with her husband Perry Choi on Aug. 15.
“It has been the most magical day of our lives,” she shared. While she had “the longest pregnancy and hardest labor,” Kris said she “would do it over so many times to meet my #LittleSunshine.”
Reflecting on motherhood, the Kapuso celebrity described the bond between a mother and a child as “one of the strongest in existence.”
“I’m so in love. It’s a kind of love that is never understood until it happens to you,” she said.
Kris announced her pregnancy in March via a movie-themed maternity shoot titled When Two Become Three.
She got engaged to Perry in February 2020. They tied the knot in September 2021.
