It seems that everything is not doing so good in Marco Gumabao’s celebrity friend group “Nguya Squad” as he revealed that the once tight-knit squad had a falling out.
The “open secret” came to light as the actor was interviewed by Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel. During their conversation, Ogie asked Marco about what had happened to his friend group after he noticed that their posts about their bonding moments weren’t on Instagram as much as before.
The Nguya Squad comprises prominent personalities like Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Ria Atayde, Khalil Ramos, Gabbi Garcia, Dominic Roque, Marco Gumabao, Patrick Sugui, Aerielle Garcia, Joe Vargas, Sofia Andres, Daniel Miranda, Joshua Garcia, and Bianca Yanga.
“Nagkaroon ng falling out sa kanila,” Marco disclosed but emphasized that these kinds of developments are only “normal” between friend groups.
He shared, however, that he tries not to get himself involved in the conflict, “Ako kasi, hindi ako nakikisama sa mga problema-problema ng mga kaibigan. Hindi ako nakikialam sa kanila, wala akong problema sa kahit sino sa kanila.”
While he stressed that he wasn’t in the position to talk about it, Marco said that the falling out wasn’t a “big deal” and hoped that the group could move past the issue so they could regain their close relationship.
“Kami ‘yung solid na solid ever since before and nakakalungkot na may mga times na sa barkada, hindi talaga laging nakukumpleto or may times na magkaka falling out. Ako kasi, bilang kaibigan, gusto ko lahat tayo happy. Gusto ko lahat tayo walang problema,” he said.
“Hindi mo naman pwedeng masabi sa mga tao na ‘Oh kalimutan mo na lang ‘yung gantong nagawa ni ganito.’ May kanya kanyang feelings ‘yan eh. May mahu-hurt, may masasaktan, and you can’t tell other people na ‘Huwag mong maramdaman ‘yung feeling na ‘yan,'” he continued.
Rumors about the group being in a conflict started when social media users noticed that Kathryn and Daniel seemed to miss out on the wedding of Aerielle and Patrick as well as Joe and Bianca’s.
However, Patrick clarified that the two were unable to join because of a lock-in taping for a series.
In Kathryn’s now-deleted vlog entry, the girls shared how their friendship started and how they are supportive of each others’ milestones.
“What I like about us is [that] a win for someone is a win for all of us. We’re such a supportive group that even the simple things are celebrated—from TV commercials to postings. Apart from that, it’s nice that we’re part of each other’s milestones because we see each other grow. We’re witnessing each other grow old and grow up together,” Ria said.
